The Summer Isn’t Dead Yet: Time For One Last Roadtrip…

July 20, 2014 Off By Humberto Byrn

As the summer begins to wind down, you may feel like the season hasn’t reached its fullest potential. Fortunately, with the temperatures still balmy, and the sun high in the sky, you have plenty of time for one last road trip. All you need to decide is where you want to go and what you’d like to do.

Last Minute Fares

If you’ve wanted to visit far off places such as Hawaii, Florida or the Caribbean, rates for the end of summer can be better than the early parts of the season. Since children are heading back to school and vacations seem to be winding down, the travel industry and airlines are trying to entice travelers by offering great deals on hotels, meals and airfare. If you’re spontaneous, and you have your passport handy, you may even be able to fit in a quick trip overseas to Europe. In addition to ideal weather conditions, famous tourist spots such as the Eiffel Tower and Leaning Tower of Pisa are less crowded and easier to navigate around.

Camping

If you’d like to stay within your own region or the neighboring states, a camping trip can be a great way to close out the summer. From sleeping in tents under the stars to cooking outdoors, you’ll find this to be a fun and exciting retreat for the family. Included in your last minute road trip could be hiking, swimming, fishing and horseback riding.

Bed and Breakfast

Whether you’ve always wanted to visit the Midwest or tour your way through the East coast, staying at a Bed and Breakfast can be a warm and inviting way to tour a community. The local chamber of commerce or the Internet will have some helpful information as to the best places to stay in the area. It’s also an ideal way to make friends and meet new people.

Theme Parks

Florida and California both have an array of popular theme parks and adventures that are perfect for the family. Here you’ll have a number of places to visit that includes Disney, Sea World, Universal Studios, Adventure City, Raging Waters, Epcot, Animal Kingdom and Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. From amusement rides and attractions to water slides and marine life, your vacation is sure to be filled with laughter and fun.

Beach Excursion

No summer is complete without heading to the beach on vacation. Michigan, California, Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, New Jersey and New York are all known for scenic views, sand and water. Whether you want to soak up the sun and relax with a good book or take a more adventurous approach to your road trip, you’ll find a host of things to see and do such as surfing, swimming, canoeing and building sand castles.

Dude Ranch

If you’ve dreamed of riding off into the sunset before winter sets in, Wyoming and Colorado have some of the best dude ranches available. Guests can enjoy activities such as horseback riding, campfires under the stars and hiking. You can upgrade your dude ranch experience by staying at a secluded spot that offers golf, spa treatments, fishing, boating, tennis and hiking trails.

While the calendar may be telling you that summer is nearing its end, you still have enough time for one last road trip with the family. The above options offer some great getaway options that will help you make the most of the season before it disappears.
